Former Minister of State at the Presidency under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is not being truthful to Ghanaians about the number of state vehicles left for them.
Mr. Afriyie Ankrah explained that during the transitional era, the former government handed over all the documents of state vehicles to the Technical Committee of the transition team and they appended their signature indicating they have accepted the number of vehicles.
The Acting Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, had told the media 208 cars are unaccounted for from the Flagstaff House’s vehicle pool.
But reacting to the issue on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa hosted by Bright Asempa on Friday, Mr. Afriyie said during the transitional period, they took the NPP people who are going to be in charge of vehicles round to inspect the number of vehicles meant for the Presidency.
He added that the then government had documented all the particulars of the vehicles for the incoming government to sign so they should let us know which ones are lost.
The former Minister of Youth and Sports challenged the government to indicate which cars are not there, because so far as they are concerned, all the vehicles at the presidency were handed over to them.
He revealed that some of the vehicles were the ones used for the inauguration of the president and the vice president on the 7thJanuary, 2017. So if they are missing, the technical committee who are in charge of the vehicles must be made to answer and not the NDC, he asserted.
