The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations in partnership with Nekotech Center of Excellence has launched an initiative dubbed: “SOS Jobs4Women Ghana Summit”.
This project aims at bringing job opportunities to the door steps of Ghanaians especially women.
Speaking at the launching ceremony in Accra, the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations Hon. Ignatus Baffour – Awuah(MP) noted that the summit will attract both international and local stakeholders to address the high rate of unemployment not only in the urban areas but also in the rural areas working through their 30 plus labour centers nationally.
According to him, the president of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is committed to gender parity.
“The government will embrace the SOS Jobs4women Ghana Summit and invite Ghanaian companies and multi national companies to participate heavily in the hiring of qualified women in positions” he emphasized
The SOS Jobs4Women Ghana Summit initiative will enhance the achievement of sustainable development goals by 2030 as well as Agenda 2063 ,
The summit is expected to begin June 10 to 11, 2017 at the Accra International Conference Center under the auspices of the Ghana Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
It will feature employment seminars and workshops, dynamic speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, winning resume writing techniques as well as “edutainment” with a focus on women in technology, interviewing skills, networking training and mentorship.
On June 11, there will be a “Peacefest” musical experience from various groups and discussions of the work of women in ministry, music ministry and missionary work in Ghana and overseas sponsored by the Holy Land Peace Fellowship of the USA, Nekotech Royal Academy for Peace, and Covenant Glory of Ghana.
Employers from Ghana and overseas- vetted as committed to women’s empowerment – will be ready to interview and hire qualified women from the uneducated to PHD level.
In line with the Ghana Gender Ministry’s goals of empowering rural women, companies will be encouraged to look at rural branches to create jobs for hardworking rural women.
