Dean of the School of Engineering at the Tamale Technical University and a former Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing Dr. Clifford Braimah, has been appointed as the Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
Dr. Braimah, according to sources at the presidency, has been confirmed to resume work today, March 27, 2017.
He was earlier tipped for the post of Northern Regional Minister but for some reasons unknown, it was given to a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nanumba North District, Salifu Saeed.
Deep throat sources revealed that the Regional Chairman of the party, Daniel Bugri Naabu, stated explicitly during a caucus meeting that he could not work with the former party executive and therefore demanded he be changed.
“During the meeting, the chairman said he could not work with doctor because he cannot control him. He also reminded Nana of his pact with the regional chairmen in the run up to the 2016 elections to either present their preferred nominees if they themselves are not qualified,” a source revealed.
Subsequently, the name of Dr. Braimah was dropped for Salifu Saeed who will go through vetting and when sworn into office will handle one of the regions described as a hotspot in the country.”
