Government has announced that all arrears owed service providers of National Health Insurance Authorities (NHIS) will be settled in by close of April 2017
“Let me take this opportunity to announce that the amount owed service providers especially Ghana Health Service and the privates facilities with respect to 2017 will be settled by close of this week”, Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu revealed.
The minister also announced measures the government is putting in place to improve on the health being of the citizenry and to modify the NHIS in order to sustain it.
“The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) aims at ensuring health and well being for all at ages by improving reproductive, maternal and child health to achieve universal health coverage”, he said.
Addressing the 2017 Ministry of Health Summit currently underway in Kumasi under the theme “Accountability in the health sector to achieve the health related SDCs” the minister explained that government will achieve its target by expanding the existing Community-based Heath Planning Services programs nationwide.
He said the ministry at the appropriate time will respond to rumours on the state of the National Insurance Authority.
“Let me assure you that government is a listener to the views that are coming up and at the appropriate time we will respond to them constructively”, he assured
