Bereaved families of the Kintampo Waterfalls disaster at the weekend received GH¢ 7,000 each from government through the minister of Planning Professor George Gyan Baffuor.
The donation was to help them organize the funerals of the the deceased persons following the unfortunate incident a fortnight ago.
The minister who is also the Member Parliament (MP) for Wenchi constituency led government’s delegation to attend the funerals of the students held at the weekend.
“Money cannot bring back the dead children. The President, his Vice and the government of Ghana express their condolence to you for your loss. This is just to enable you meet some cost for the funeral because it was unplanned and the president shares in your grief”, he revealed.
It would be recalled that Twenty (20) persons died and more than 30 left with various degrees of injuries after trees at the waterfalls fell on revelers last Sunday afternoon.
The deceased persons were mostly students from the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School and other students from the University of energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani and holiday makers.
