Mannaseh Azure Awuni has warned NPP transition members against dubious businessmen who would attempt to bribe their way into securing business interests, a move he stressed would cause the downfall of the NPP party and the nation if they are not careful.
“Some criminals parading as business people will start approaching you with bags of money. That is, if they haven’t approached you yet. They want to bribe you in order to secure their stinky business interests. Remember that not only will God punish you if you start this, but you will be starting the downfall of your government and the nation,” Manasseh said in a Facebook post.
He alleged that “some of those business people are the reason President Mahama’s government was disgraced in the election.”
It would be recalled that Manasseh blew the whistle on outgoing President John Mahama for a gift (Ford SUV) he accepted from Burkinabe contractor Mr. Djibril Kanazoe which he (Manasseh) described as a bribe in his article “Burkinabe contractor offers controversial gift to Prez Mahama” on myjoylineonline.com.
In this article, the ace journalist had stated categorically that it would be difficult for the Director-General of Groupe Kanazoe to deny his friendship with Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama because the interview is conducted in his office where a photograph showed the two in cordial posture.
The ace journalist who claimed his recorder was seized by Mr Kanazoe was quoted in the same article saying, “I’m here to investigate allegations that Mr. Djibril Kananzoe used undue influence to get contracts and paid bribes to some Ghanaian officials, allegations he denied. Djibril Kanazoe is the contractor who built the $650,000 Ghana Embassy fence wall in Burkina Faso.
He is also the only African contractor who won part of the contract on the Eastern Corridor Road Project, one of the biggest road projects ever to be undertaken in Ghana”.
Manasseh sounded this note of caution to the NPP transition members in a Facebook post days after Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was announced president-elect of Ghana following an overwhelming victory over President John Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just ended elections.
