Ghana National Union of Technical Students (GNUTS) have expressed goodwill towards the appointment of Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the Education Minister.
The students’ union expressed enthusiasm about the approval of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh by parliament and assured a strong alliance in a press statement issued on Monday and signed by Public Relations Officer of the Union, Prince Agbofah Awuku in Accra.
The group appealed to the minister to prioritize Technical and Vocational education in educational institutions to create avenues for employment opportunities for graduates.
They, further, entreated the new minister and government to ensure the conversion of Polytechnics in Ghana to Technical Universities by facilitating the conversion of the two (2) remaining Polytechnics (Wa and Bolgantanga Polytechnics).
“Indeed, it has been our hope and prayer that the Minister will contribute his greatest quota in enhancing quality education in Ghana”.
Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been a Member of Parliament since 2008. He won the seat again in 2016, making him eligible to be MP for a second term.
He is a Medical Doctor and was the Executive Chairman, Keyemap Services Limited before he became an MP.
