GLICO General, an indigenous insurance company, has handed over a renovated Orthopaedic Female Ward at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital at a cost of Gh¢100,000.00 to management of the hospital.
The ward, which was in a bad state has been given a facelift with new paintings on the entire block, new curtains designed in Glico colours, fitting of new louvre blades, electrical gadgets, floor tiles and provision of a new 32-inch flat screen television set and ceiling fans.
Head of Accident Centre, Dr. Frederick Kwarteng, on behalf of the administration thanked Glico for the support.
He explained that management of the hospital was soliciting for funds to renovate the facility when Glico intervened.
Dr. Kwarteng called on individuals and agencies to always support the hospital.
“Henceforth 80% of insurance in the country should go to the insurance company,” he appealed.
For his part, Head of Corporate Affairs and Marketing at Glico, Nana Efua Rockson, said, Glico decided to renovate the ward as part of its 10th anniversary celebration.
She added that once the company has adopted the ward, every year her outfit will do something that will inure to the benefit of Ghanaians.
She described Glico General as ‘baby’ of the group although GLICO has been in existence for the past 30 years.
She said for the past four years, Glico has been organising blood donation for the Korle-Bu Blood Bank.
“We are here to give back to Ghana, to give back to Korle Bu and to give back to our clients, and to say that trust Glico to cushion your life, 30 years and still counting.
…We have spent 30 out of Ghana’s 60 years and I believe posterity will be our witness, generation upon generation will come and see Glico and so we will need the support of all,” Nana Ekua added.
