Government has budgeted the GHS456million to kick off the One-District-One-Factory policy, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has disclosed.
This was contained in the budget statement of the Akufo-Addo government read by the minister on the floor of parliament on Thursday 2 March.
The One-District-One-Factory policy was a key campaign promise of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 election campaign.
The policy, which will be private sector-driven, will, according to the government, provide 216 medium- to large-scale factories in each district.
Over 350,000 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created when the policy begins later in the year.
Meanwhile, GHS94.5million has been budgeted for the one-village-one- dam policy, which will also commence this year to ensure year-round farming and food security.
