Reports reaching BuzzGhana has it that Black Stars and Orlando Pirates defender, Edwin Gyimah was involved in a car accident in the early hours of Boxing Day. According to the reports, the defender had a head on collision with a commercial car.
The accident occurred in the player’s hometown of Obausi, while he was driving at around 3 am in his Hyundai Sonata Saloon car with a female passenger, whose identity is given as one Linda Owusu.
From our gatherings, the accident resulted in serious injuries which had the female passenger rushed to the AGA Health Foundation Hospital in Obuasi. The driver and passengers of the commercial car were also taken to the hospital for diffrent degrees of injuries.
Edwin Gyimah on the other hand only suffered minor injuries and was put in the next available taxi to his hotel. This is even when he was spotted with blood on his face.
The cause of the accident was stated to be an attempt by the 25-year-old Ghanaian international to overtake another car, resulting in him ramping into the taxi. Both cars were left with deformed bunnets.
While no official statement has been given, our source indicates that the player who is expected to be important to Avram Grant’s team ahead of 2017 AFCON, should be mostly good to get his game going as usual.
At the moment it remains unclear wether or not the defender would face any charges in regards of the crash or wether it would really affect his appearance in the AFCON which is scheduled to hold in January 2017. The latter is highly unlikely, as we gather he is less likely to miss out, ahead of the anouncement of the team any time soon.
