Flagbearer of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey has promised to create an economic environment that will make “Ghanaians party every weekend,” should he be voted President.
According to the businessman, he has the capability of changing the fortunes of the country. Dr. Lartey is however currently unable to contest for president in the December 7 polls as his nomination forms were rejected by the Electoral Commission last week.
“I’m capable of turning this economy around,” he told Nana Aba Anamoah on GHOne TV’s current affairs show, State of Affairs Tuesday.
He continued: “I’m a businessman, I have several farms and I’m the largest supplier of organic papaya in the world… If I’m given the chance, I’m going to mirror whatever we are doing in agriculture and they will be sold out.
“We will build electrical cars, we will earn trillions of dollars and Ghanaians will have jobs and they will party every weekend because they will have money in their back pockets. When you have money, what do you with it? You party!…” he stated.
Touching on his disqualification from the polls, Dr. Henry Lartey accused the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of not properly executing her duties.
“I have a feeling that Madam Charlotte Osei did not really look at our papers before she announced. If she did, I’m sorry that she made a big, momentous mistake… She rather failed… her job was to call us to amend but she did not call us,” he said.
The GCPP leader also stated that he has filed a suit against the EC and is confident the court will force the Electoral Management body to revoke its decision.
