Valentine’s Day is a special occasion designed to celebrate love mostly through exchange of gifts or a romantic dinner set out for two.
Here in Ghana, we prefer to call it Chocolate Day so as to promote our locally made chocolates by buying them for our loved ones.
If you are single, Valentine’s Day is a sad reminder that you are alone. If you are coupled up, then the pressure sets in. You have to get the perfect gift and arrange the most romantic possible night.
And when you just met someone new, the looming experience of Valentine’s Day is absolute torture.
Lots of questions run through your mind asking what to do. Are you supposed to do romantic stuff? Is it appropriate to buy with hearts on if you haven’t said ‘I love you’ yet? Should you expect something? What if they are expecting a gift from you and you’ve done nothing?
Well to find out people’s expectation on Valentine’s Day, GhanaWeb news team went out to find out how people are celebrating it.
