The rampant seizure of state assets by some invincible forces was the first, raising concerns and triggering several criticisms. Things seem to have halted significantly when the first gentleman of the land, President Akufo-Addo condemned the acts and called for stoppage followed by some major arrests.
The Delta Force, another vigilante group this time waging war against members of its very own party emerged beginning with the assault of the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei at his office on March 24, 2017.
About 13 persons were arrested following the group’s raiding of the Regional Coordinating Council where they allegedly assaulted the newly appointed Security Coordinator.
At the Kumasi Circuit Court Thursday where the 13 were arraigned, some members of the group stormed in to demand the release of their colleagues to the amazement of the presiding Judge who but for the timely intervention of security forces would have been attacked.
Many people have expressed shock at the extremity and impunity exhibited by the vigilante groups with others expressing worry about the situation and some others, calling for a clamp down on these forces.
