Scores of Ghanaian soccer fans have utterly condemned the unsavoury comments made by goalkeeper of the Black Stars, Razak Braimah, after team’s quarter-final encounter in the ongoing AFCON in Gabon against DR Congo.
Braimah, who is making his second appearance at the continent’s most prestigious soccer tournament, went berserk and insulted his critics over his performances in the roundup to the team’s qualification to the semi-finals of the competition.
In a live video recording which has gone viral in the media circles, particularly on social media, the former Nania FC goalkeeper was heard telling his critics to “shut up if they don’t understand the game of football.”
“….These f**king negative people, f**k you all,” Babylon, because we also have family, every f**king word you say against us, we’ve also heard them okay.
“If you don’t know football, shut the f**king up there and close your f**king mouth, sit over there and just watch the game…people talk too much,” he said repeatedly.
The former Cordoba and Wolfsburg shot stopper who is enjoying his fourth year since joining the Black Stars claimed he deserved some respect even though soccer fans have made questionable remarks over his competence as they prepare to play Cameroon on Thursday.
Speaking to some football fans many of them expressed complete disgust in the way Braimah showed his discontentment over his exploits with the Black Stars.
Most of the fans who spoke to Today said they have lost confidence in the Black Stars goalkeeper despite going 557 minutes in the Africa Cup of Nations before conceding a goal.
Meanwhile pressure is gradually mounting on Coach Avram Grant to apply his disciplinary axe as the team strives to win back support of Ghanaians after their disappointing performance in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Former Black Star players—Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince-Boateng—were sacked from their team base over disciplinary issues and many believe same sanctions should be applied on Razak Braimah to guard against future recurrence.
However, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Mr. Jarvis Peprah, has supported the call for the immediate expulsion of Razak Braimah from the Black Stars camp.
The former Kotoko boss believes “a lack of sanction on the goalkeeper has the potential to weaken the disciplinary statutes of the Black Stars as they prepare to settle scores with Indomitable Lions.
“The player should not be allowed to spend one more night at the camp of the Black Stars,” he fumed on Accra-based Oman FM.
“With the insults rained on Ghanaians by the goalkeeper, he has no business wearing the Black Stars jersey again.
“If I was in charge of the Black Stars he would never be called to join the Black Stars again.”
His absence will witness the introduction of newly signed Enyimba FC goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda, who replaced Adam Kwarasey after the latter was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
