Ghana Premier League enters its third week today with a very gruelling encounter between Elmina Sharks and Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra.
Both Great Olympics and league debutants, Elmina Sharks, are expected to serve supporters with a very thrilling encounter as both sides still chase their first three points.
Olympics were given a not so welcoming experience in their first match after succumbing to a 3-1 thumping by AshGold on Sunday while Elmina Sharks had a debut to forget when they lost at home to Aduana Stars at a packed Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina, Central Region.
Coach Godwin Attram, who asked for the unflinching support of the board and supporters of the club after the AshGold defeat, will be hoping his charges will give the home fans something to cheer about in their first match at home.
His youthful squad led by experienced duo—Dan Quaye and goalkeeper, Osei Boateng—will be guiding the other relatively inexperienced players in their quest to register a win against Elmina Sharks, who can equally boast of the likes of Ebo Mends and former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Kofi Abanga.
Elmina Sharks will also want to avoid a second straight loss and will come out all guns blazing to earn at least a point, and if possible, clinch all the three points on the day.
Coach Kobina Amissah and his Shark will be hoping for a better outing against Olympics today.
Accra Hearts of Oak will be chasing for a win in the league when they head to the Cape Coast Stadium to face Ebusua Dwarfs. Ebusua Dwarfs won convincingly in their first match but were beaten by WAFA in Sogakope in the Volta Region. Hearts of Oak on the other hand are winless in two matches with two goalless draw games against Inter Allies and Medeama SC respectively.
Nicholas Gyan, Christopher Bonney, Alhaji Mustapha and newest addition to the Dwarfs team, Albert Hammond, who bagged a brace on Matchday 1, will all certainly give the Phobians a good run for their money.
Bechem United will play their first match of the season against inform Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium after exiting the CAF Confederations Cup while defending champions, Wa ALL Stars, return to their favourite Malik Jabir Park to host WAFA.
