The former President of Ga-Dangme Traditional Council Dr. KB Asante is calling on the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte II to render an unqualified apology for his gaffe.
According to him, attempts by some of his supporters to justify his comment smacks of hypocrisy and double standards.
The traditional ruler, prior to the December 7 polls vowed that he will relinquish his stool if outgoing President John Dramani Mahama loses the elections bearing in mind that traditional authorities are not supposed to engage in partisan politics.
The Chief of the Ga Traditional Area has been under pressure to abdicate his seat as he has pledged.
But at a news conference in Accra Friday, the Gbese Youth Association warned that the youth are ready to the point of shedding their own blood to defend their chief.
Chairman of the Gbese Youth, Nii Annan Agbo, who addressed a press conference said the Gbese Mantse’s abdication comments have been misconstrued.
However, on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, KB Asante expressed shock at the spin being put on what he said.
He indicated that Nii Ayi-Bonte II did not speak in parables hence attempts to defend his gaffe is ‘sickening’.
The diplomat entreated beleaguered Gbese Mantse to eat humble pie and apologise to avoid being embarrassed by a section of the public especially the kingmakers.
KB Asante advised chiefs to be wary of what they say since it might come back to haunt them in future.
