The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Thursday afternoon closed down a gas station at Achiama in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region.
The Service had to react swiftly to reports of leakage at the gas station on Wednesday.
District Chief Fire Officer Ebenezer Simpson told TV3’s Nina Awurabena Antwi-Kusi during the operation that there were leakages on the main LPG storage vessel.
DCFO Simpson confirmed that the station was yet to meet fire safety requirements, hence the urgency to shut down the station.
The shutdown was in accordance with Regulation 15 of LI 1724.
An attendant at the station told TV3’s reporter that he had to inform the Fire Service after efforts by a mechanic to stop the “intense” leakage proved futile.
Meanwhile, another one located on the same premises with church in Pokuase has been closed by the Service.
The Saint A4 Gas Station is said to have inadequate extinguisher and the discharging holes need replacement.
