Newly elected Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency Kwaku Amoratwum Sarpong has expressed worry about the slow pace of the registration ongoing.
Registration of members of the Seventh Parliament began on Monday, December 19 at Job 6.
Recently elected members trooped to the venue to get registered, Onua FM gathered.
But speaking to the Accra-based radio station, Mr Sarpong said the plenty details being collated is slowing the process.
Members are required to be registered and issued with identification cards that will enable them access the chamber and attend the first sitting on January 7.
The first sitting will see the election and swearing-in of the Speaker, Members-elect and two Deputy Speakers.
All members are respectfully requested to note the following steps to ensure smooth and accurate recording of their personal data:
1: Members elect are required to take photographs for purposes of issuing of identification cards. Parliament has made available Staff who will be on hand to assist with the process.
2: Once the photographs are taken, Hon. Members-elect are to fill out the registration form. This should be done as clearly as possible, making sure that the information provided is accurate and up-to-date.
3: Members-elect have been warned that it is a crime under Section 39 and 40 of the National Identity Register (Act 750) to give false information.
4: Hon. Members-elect who might have filled the online forms should crosscheck and verify the information provided. Once satisfied with the accuracy of the information, the forms will be printed out and the Hon. Member-elect’s signature appended to finally complete the process.
5: For Hon. Members-elect filling the form manually, staff will be on hand to electronically input the information. This should also be crosschecked by the Hon. Member-elect as it will serve as a database for seventh Parliament.
6: A laminated identification card will be issued immediately to the Hon. Member-elect. This will contain an alphanumeric reference which will be required during the inauguration of the seventh parliament.
7: Also all members elect should remember to bring this ID card with them for the inauguration on 7th January 2017.
8: Members-elect must note that incomplete registration forms will mean inability to issue the Hon. Member-elect with an ID card.
10: Hon. Members-elect are entreated by the authority in parliament to conform to these guidelines.
