Four members of the Black Queens that finished 3rd at the just ended African Women’s Cup of Nations have been named in the team of the tournament.
While two – midfielder Elizabeth Addo and defender Linda Eshun – were named in the Best XI, two others, Portia Boakye and Janet Egyir, were named as substitutes.
The Queens fell short of a target to bring home the coveted trophy after losing 0-1 to Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in the semi-final.
But they recovered to beat South Africa’s Bayana Bayana to Bronze last Friday with Linda Eshun scoring the only goal of that match.
After the tournament, won by Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Cameroon’s Gabrielle Onguene was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Nigeria’s Asisat Lamina Oshoala’s six goals made her winner of the Golden Ball.
Both made it into the tournament’s Best XI with two South Africans and two Ghanaians.
