Parts of the Central market in Kumasi, Ghana, were on early Tuesday morning gutted by fire, destroying properties worth millions of Ghanaian cedis, according to reports on Tuesday.
The fire started deep in the night and destroyed over 18 stall of traders, whose wares were mainly made up of clothes and sanitary materials.
The Ghana National Fire Service arrived on the scene on time, preventing the spread of the fire.
Some affected traders broke up in uncontrollable tears and appealed to city authorities to support them to earn a living because they lost all they had to the fire.
The Kumasi Central market has been hit by many fire disasters in recent times, thereby becoming a growing concern for some traders in the second largest city in Ghana.
