Fire gutted the Kumasi Central Market on Monday afternoon, April, 10, 2017, destroying several shops and goods worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
The fire was suspected to have been caused by a truck which came into contact with a cable which was exposed.
The burnt truck was seen standing in front of the building which suffered most casualties.
Shops which sell student mattresses and other foams were suspected to be the starting point of fire.
As of the time of filing this report, several shoppers and traders were believed to have been trapped in the market as personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were yet to arrive at the scene.
