A 52-year old Tema-based business woman, Eunice Jacqueline Buah has been elected as the Western Regional representative to the Council of State for the next four years.
She polled 24 votes out of the 44 total valid votes cast to defeat five other contenders.
The other contestants were Ntori Bonkyi Akomea who had 10 votes, Samuel Ebah Boadi – 7 votes, Lt. Col (Rtd) Anthony Eduhene – 3 votes and Enoch Bart-Plange Tawiah, a student of the University of Cape Coast who 0 votes.
One John Kojo Erzah, an educationists withdrew from the race at the eleventh hour.
The Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Stephen Opoku-Mensah, supervised the elections at Sekondi.
The Electoral College comprised of two representatives from the 22 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies in the Region, adding up to the 44 voters.
Nana Owusu Achaw also won Council of State membership seat with 45 votes representing 75% in the Ashanti region.
