Eugene Arhin Dabbling In ‘dirty’ Propaganda – Kwakye-Ofosu

The former deputy Minister of Communications, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu has lashed out at the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin for only being interested in putting out figures in the alleged missing cars saga.

According to him, Mr Arhin was not entirely truthful in his communications on the alleged 200 missing cars at the presidency. But was only dabbling in dirty propaganda on Akufo-Addo’s purported use of a 10-year old BMW as an official car.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eye Witness News, Kwakye Ofosu who was clearly not happy about the conduct of Mr Arhin on the missing cars saga indicated that, the NDC government left the state a total of 641 vehicles at the presidential pool which was properly handed over by the Transition Team, therefore the claim by the missing 200 vehicles are unfounded.

“The handing over notes of the transition team captured the chassis numbers of these vehicles which the NPP side signed, meaning to have taken possession of the vehicles. Mr Eugen Arhin if you were diligent enough and not interested in putting out falsehood, would’ve done a more thorough job and found that, as far as the government of President Mahama is concerned all state vehicles have been accounted for,” he lamented.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu emphasised that the NPP in their usual allegations have not been able to point out specific vehicles which are missing from the presidential pool but only dabbling in ‘dirty’ propaganda against NDC government.

“If Communications Director Eugen Arhin says that President Akufo-Addo is unable to find vehicles to use and so he has resorted to the use of a 10-year old BMW as an official car then it was borne out of his own choice he made.

“We want to put it on record that among the vehicles that were handed over to them including two bullet proof saloon cars and two Land Cruiser vehicles which are much newer than his 10 year old BMW and are all specifically dedicated to the use of the president and not because there was scarcity of vehicles,” he added.

On his side, the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho is on record to have said the incumbent NPP government concocted the 200 missing cars story at the presidency for political purposes. The deputy General Secretary explained that, the Nana Akufo-Addo-led administration is making preparations to purchase luxurious cars for Ghana’s upcoming 60th anniversary which they will subsequently use at the presidency.

“They [NPP] want to go and purchase fleet of luxurious vehicles and they want to justify it, so they will say vehicles have been stolen so they can go and purchase these new set of wheels,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM.

Koku Anyidoho who is furious with the allegation of the 200 missing cars, said that “They [NPP] should go and retrieve if they know where those cars are and stop harassing people. You just watch this space and see the luxurious cars they will import into this country to celebrate the Ghana @60. We are all here.”

Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin in a statement yesterday said that President Akufo-Addo has had only one state car at his disposal; a 10-year-old BMW, since he assumed office on January 7th.

Eugene Arhin also revealed that over 200 state cars at the presidency are nowhere to be found which has forced the president to use his private means of transport on trips outside the Greater Accra Region.
