Some pupils of the Little Angel Preparatory School in Apedwa are in critical conditions after their school bus collided with another vehicle at Kibi-Amanfrom in the East Akyem Municipality of the Eastern region.
The injured were rushed to the Kibi Government Hospital for treatment.
According to DSP Emmanuel Issaka – the Kibi Divisional Crime Officer, the Sprinter Mercedes Bus belonging to the School was overloaded with 56 pupils.
The bus was conveying the pupils from Kibi to Apedwa where the school is located and on reaching Akyem Odumase, a private Opel Korsa from Suhum heading towards Kibi veered off its lane, ending up ramming into the side of the school bus.
The police said most of the children have been discharged, four have benn admitted, two pupils – six-year-old Atiemo and Erica Ohenewa ,9, sustained fractures and have been referred to the Koforidua Government Hospital for further treatment.
According to Starr News’ Eastern regional correspondent Kojo Ansah, the driver of the Opel and two other pupils with fractured legs have been transferred to Koforidua for intensive care.
