Elmina Sharks continued to cement their place in the Ghana Premier League with an impressive performance as they beat AshantiGold 1-0 at the Papa Kwesi Ndoum Stadium on Saturday, March 18, 2017
The win earned the Fearsome Sharks their third win and second in a row to move fifth on the league table after a remarkable and an outstanding display against Berekum Chelsea in midweek.
The league debutant commenced and dominated the game with some intricate passing display which was rewarded with a penalty in the 33rd minute by referee Bernard Dumfe.
Midfielder Tetteh Nortey notched home the winner with a brilliant penalty to hand the Miners led by experienced coach, Bahsir Hayford their fifth defeat of the season.
Tried as they could, AshGold pressed for the equaliser in the second half but Elmina Sharks stood resolute in defence to end the match in favour of Coach Kobina Amissah’s side with an enviable 12 points in eight matches.
