The Electoral Commission of Ghana says it will not negotiate on the terms of payment with presidential and parliamentary candidates who fail to present their bankers draft of GHS10,000 and GHS50,000 Ghana respectively before 12 pm Monday 10th October.
In an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, the Communications Director of the EC, Eric Kofi Dzakpasu stated that the commission called on all candidates to present their bankers draft last Friday after the court ruled out the Peoples Progressive Party’s (PPP) suit which sought to challenge the commission’s filing fee and so candidates who fail to do so by 12 pm today (Monday) will automatically be disqualified from contesting.
He noted that the filing fees add up to make one’s nomination valid and so urged all candidates to do so before 12 pm to avoid disqualification.
As at the time of the interview, the various political parties were yet to submit their banker’s draft.
Meanwhile, the EC will hold a press briefing after 12 pm.
