The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has appealed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to pay its full budgetary allocation for 2016.
The Deputy Chair of the Electoral Commission (EC), Operations, Amadu Sulley, has lamented that suppliers and service providers for the EC are owed various sums of money.
Government earmarked a total sum of GHS1.2billion for the 2016 elections, but three months after the polls, the full payments are yet to be made to the EC.
“We were assured that by the end of the day we would get it, but up till now we have not been able to get everything. So some of our members who had confidence in us did it with the expectation that they would be paid at the end of the day, but we are still waiting for that money,” he told Joy FM on Friday, March 17.
He said the commission was confident that government would soon disburse the funds but any further delays would not be pleasant.
