EC has advised returning officers across the country to jettison E-transmission of results and resort to manual transmission as the former is no longer reliable.
The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Charlotte Osei has expressed distrust on the Electronic Transmission System adopted for the transmission of the 2016 General Election Results. According to her, the E-transmission may have been compromised and therefore no longer reliable for transmitting the results.
The EC Boss made this disclosure in a Press Conference held Thursday evening at the Electoral Commission Headquarters. Madam Osei explained to the press that the various challenges the commission has encountered with the Electronic Transmission System has made them believe that it may have been compromised.
She said that the Commission has for this reason advised all returning officers across the country to stop using it and instead use manual methods to transmit the election results. She explained that this has slowed down the transmission of results to the EC from all the polling units across the country as they are still waiting for results to come in.
She also explained that they [the EC] must have to collate results from all the polling units before making the final declaration. Ghanaians are therefore urged to exercise patience seeing that the manual process will certainly take longer time.
Earlier on Thursday, Charlotte Osei had said that the EC will have to review all polling station results to ensure that there were no cases of over voting.
All these measures being taken by the Commission, according to the EC Boss, is to ensure that they deliver nothing less than accurate and credible results to Ghanaians.
