The Eastern Regional Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association(GJA), Mr Maxwell Kudekor has called on the GJA Election Adjudication Committee to throw out the petition of Charles Benoni Okine and Enoch Darfah Frimpong challenging the legality of the GJA Executive Committee and the organisation of this year’s elections of the association.
In a petition to the GJA Election Adjudication Committee which was copied to the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua, Mr Kudekor argued that, the GJA national Executive acted in accordance with the 2004 constitution of the association and organised an emergency general meeting which mandated them to continue in office and to organise the elections of the association before the end of the first quarter of this year.
Mr Kudekor argued that, the actions of Messrs Okine and Frimpong indicated that they were not at the last emergency general meeting of the association which was organised on August 26, 2016.
Mr Kudekor therefore urged the 2017 Election Committee of the GJA to continue with the organisation of the elections of the association scheduled for March 31, 2017.
