Delhi Public School (DPS) International, Ghana, a private school at Tema in the Greater Accra Region has held a special graduation ceremony for 22 outgoing ‘A’ Level students of the school with sterling cultural performances.
The colourful ceremony was graced with multi-cultural performances amidst drama, poetry recital, singing and choreography from students and witnessed by parents, school authorities and other guests.
The celebration was to acknowledge the teachers and students hard work which had propelled them to the enviable standard in the academic circle.
Certificates and special prizes were presented to the graduating students.
Uttering farewell wishes to the graduates, the Director of the School, Mr. Mukesh Thakwani congratulated the outgoing class of the school which he described as special batch due to their outstanding achievements including laurels won for themselves and the school.
He urged them to keep their shine and continue to serve as ambassadors of the school.
He was optimistic that the quality training and teachings received by the graduates in both academics and extracurricular activities had prepared them well to become successful in the near future, adding that “I will not be surprised to see some of our graduates become President, business magnates, doctors, lawyers and other professions in the near future as a result of the good tuition they received and their successes.”
The Director of DPS International Ghana, enumerated some of the achievements and other laurels which culminated to the admired academic excellence of the school and challenged the remaining students to continue with the good works of their seniors and endeavour to chalk more success.
He admonished the students to take advantage of the excellent tuition they had and improve in the fast changing world, saying that students of all cultures were taught universal values and ethics along with modern science, while the teachers focused on differences in each individual because every person varies.
Encouraging the students, Principal of the school, Mr. Raj David indicated that education is a lifelong enterprise therefore parents must ensure that their children are given the best of tuition as far as their future is concerned.
He challenged the graduates to psyche themselves up to improve in the midst of challenges they may face.
The Principal advised the outgoing students to desist from social vices so that they could fit into society and make meaningful impact on the lives of people around them.
He called on parents to see the child as a mirror reflecting the whole family and the education they give the child will determine the fortunes of the entire family.
The students, amidst sobs, took their turns to express their joy and sorrow for leaving the school wishing to have had all their academic education at DPS international.
Cobby Ocran, an outgoing student thanked DPS international, Ghana fraternity for the discipline, knowledge and wisdom instilled in him to become a good person for himself and his parents.
He was impressed with the use of extracurricular activities to teach students important values in life and urged the school authorities to uphold it.
DPS International Ghana has won the National Spelling Bee competition on several occasions and recorded the highest performance at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the US.
The school has also added to its several local and international laurels, some outstanding awards from Cambridge International Examinations High Achievers’ Award and American Mathematics Competition (AMC) which was organised by the Mathematics Association of America among others.
