Despite the massive developmental projects by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, certain inappropriate decisions the party took led to their defeat in the 2016 elections, Mohammed Aryeetey Okwabi otherwise known as the Kpakpakpa man has said.
Kpakpakpa mentioned the cancellation of the nurses and teacher trainee allowances as well as the failure of the NDC’s communication team to focus on the right message for the citizenry as some of the major factors that led to the party’s defeat in the 2016 general elections.
“The NDC government should have known that whenever you are doing things you need to be focused. Don’t wait until last minute before you start doing the right thing,” he said.
Speaking on the economic challenges currently facing the country, Mohammed opined that the incoming Akufo-Addo government should avoid a repeat of mistakes committed by the outgoing NDC government and pay critical attention to the economic management of the country by mainly tackling inflation if the NPP government was keen on retaining power in 2020.
“The NPP government should have in mind that we the populace have to eat. The NDC government abandoned us. Their focus was all about development projects which did not bring money into our pockets and people were hungry here and there,” he said.
