The Chief Fire officer, Dr Albert Brown Gaisie, has cautioned personnel and volunteers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) over their approach in ensuring peace before, during and after the December 7 elections.
He warned that much professionalism would be demanded of them for the period.
The Chief Fire Officer was addressing officers at Koforidua, the Eastern Region capital city, at a programme on Friday to pass out fire volunteers from Tafo Tontrom, Kwahu in the Region.
He added that there was the need for fire personnel to liaise with other security agencies to guard all polling stations and Electoral Commission offices.
He cautioned, “Do not meddle in partisan politics, ensure not to be drunk before you go to the polling station. Be watchful about those who may want to set fire. Identify all hazardous area and give protection. Every citizen must be protected against destruction. Start patrolling, control the market.”
