President John Dramani Mahama has admonished Muslims and Ghanaians in general to desist from peddling falsehood for their selfish gains.
According to him, just like the Prophet Abraham exhibited selflessness, dedication and faith in Allah, Muslims and citizens should do same.
Speaking at the 2016 Eid-al-Adha celebration at the Independence Square, President Mahama explained that just like Allah tested the faith of Abraham by requesting for the ultimate sacrifice from him, (a sacrifice of his son), the act should be a powerful lesson of an unwavering trust, and selfless obedience and submission to the will of Allah.
President Mahama said, the example is an ultimate test of faith that Allah would require from anyone of us, both Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
The question Muslims and citizens should be asking themselves President Mahama noted should be, whether we could have stand the test like Prophet Abraham was subjected to.
He said, what Allah requires from a Muslim and a non-Muslim is first of almost, live in peaceful co-existence with one another just as we have been doing in Ghana over the years, he added.
According to President Mahama, just as the meat from the animals is shared with family, friends and neighbours as well as the poor, Allah would want us to sacrifice our comfort for the well being of our neigbours including those who are non-Muslims. He would want us to be our brother’s keeper .”
He continued, Allah would require of us to speak the truth and not deceive people for our own selfish reasons. Allah would want us to continue working hard and trust him to take us to the expected destination he has planned for us.”
