Head of the Local Government Institute, Dr. Eric Oduro Osae has advised president Akufo Addo against appointing corrupt persons to the offices of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.
According to Dr. Oduro Osae, such persons pose serious threats to the president’s resolve to fight corruption at the executive level of government. He was speaking in an interview with sit-in host of Abusua Nkomo, Austin Woode in response to reports some persons are busily lobbying through some powerful individuals to get appointments.
There has been widespread reports of some functionaries of the New Patriotic Party allegedly paying monies to some “powerful lobbyists” to secure appointments.
But Dr. Eric Oduro Osae says, “I think the president should be careful when appointing such individuals.”
“Anyone who is able to pay through his way to secure appointment to become a Chief Executive is most likely to be corrupt,” he disclosed.
“Ask yourself, why should anyone pay just to serve, serving is supposed to be a voluntary gesture and the moment people begin to pay for such offices, then you know it’s the beginning of corruption,” Dr. Oduro emphasised.
