New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central in the Central Region, has accused the leadership of the party of selling the contents of the party’s yet-to-be released manifesto to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ken Agyepong speaking on Accra-based Oman FM Thursday night said the persons who ‘sold’ the ideas to the NDC are ‘very close’ to the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“Most of the NPP leaders that are closer to Nana Addo are not loyal, they are the ones who have been selling information [from the camp of the NPP] to the NDC, yet they shamelessly come claiming that the ideas in their manifesto has been stolen,” he alleged.
Director of Communications of the NPP, Nana Akomea after the presentation of the highlights of the NDC manifesto by President Mahama accused the NDC of ‘stealing’ the ideas of the NPP.
But the Assin Central MP reacted on Adom TV that the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition simply has no proof about their allegations since the governing party had launched its manifesto ahead of the main opposition party.
“No one has stolen your ideas, you simply have no proof,” the maverick politician said on Adom TV.
Agyepong added: “It’s about time we stopped this child’s play and focus on issues that will move the nation forward. We are in an election year and as an opposition party ready for power, we can’t afford to counter the ruling party over unnecessary issues…most especially when we want power.”
He called on NPP to blame the disloyal persons who have surrounded Nana Addo for the problems of the NPP.
“Nana Addo, I want to tell you that you have never won the elections, until they declare you winner, you are never the winner because from 2008, Nana Addo has constantly won the elections but never declared the winner…,” he said.
He further called on the NPP leaders to ‘respect the people in sandals’ who storm their offices with information.
