Special voters who could not cast their ballots today due to technical challenges on the part of the Electoral Commission will be given the opportunity to do so on Sunday, December 4.
This was agreed upon at an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Wednesday evening.
Citi FM gathered than many special voters including security officials who were to cast their ballots on Wednesday, could not do so because they could not find their names in the list of registered voters in their constituencies.
Some others who had transferred their votes from their original constituencies to a new one could not find their names in the register of either constituencies, leaving them stranded.
Following strings of similar complaints across the country, the EC has decided, in consultation with various stakeholders including the political parties to hold the exercise for those affected on December 4, ahead of the general elections on 7th December.
Some persons who were registered as special voters expressed their frustration over their inability to find their names in the list of special voters due to cast their ballots today [Wednesday].
Citi News gathered that some Police personnel including commanders and other top hierarchy personnel within the security agencies could not cast their votes today because their names were ‘missing’ from the special voters’ list on the day of voting.
