The Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti region has embarked on massive infrastructural development aimed at promoting education and health in the district.
The district was carved out of the Bosomtwe Atwima Kwanwoma district in 2008 under erstwhile J. A. Kufuor administration.
The district has devised a well-structured strategy to execute projects in education, health, road sector and other areas as the ultimate means of opening up the area for the needed development. Atwima Kwanwoma is one of the deprived districts in the Ashanti region.
Some of the projects include Ampatia CHPS compound, renovation of six unit classroom block at Atwima Darko, Bebu basic school project, Kwanwoma Senior High School project, and Twedie CHPS compound.
Speaking in an interview with TV3, the District Chief Executive, Kwabena Nkrumah, called on the people to renew the mandate of President Mahama to ensure continuous development.
He stressed the assembly’s determination to invest massively in projects that would help create jobs and reduce poverty among the people.
He however noted that the level of development needed in the area was enormous, which could not be realized depending solely on the assembly’s common fund. He therefore called for innovative ways of generating internal revenue to complement the common fund.
He noted that the building of a modern market for the district has given the district a strong base for revenue generation, and charged residents to see the development of the district as a collective which requires them to live up to their civic responsibilities.
