With more than three years to another electioneering period, it appears some persons are already finding ways to win the support and trust of residents in order to be elected Members of Parliament (MP).
One of such is the Deputy Chief of Staff Samuel Abu Jinapor who since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the December 7, 2016 elections, has been a regular visitor to the Damongo constituency of the Northern Region.
Mynewsgh.com has confirmed that he has set up an educational endowment fund for brilliant but needy students in the area; donated towards the construction of a block at the Catholic Church and organized a victory party for residents.
His posters flooded social media on Tuesday giving credence to speculations that the former aide to then candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is lacing his boots to annex the Damongo seat which has sparked wide controversies why he is not seeking to contest his brother and former Deputy Minister of Power John Abdulai Jinapor.
Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency Zion Abdul Rauf wondered why barely 2 months into office, Samuel is on a spending spree in the Damongo constituency.
“Samuel Abu Jinapor during the swearing in of His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, hired buses, fed the NPP Youth to and from Accra.
Sources close to Hon Albert Diwura said, Hon Samuel Jinapor handed GH¢35,000 to the executives of the constituency to rent the buses and to feed the members. He further organized a party in his residence after the inauguration.
Was the deputy chief of staff having this cash before the elections or he just became a young millionaire in a broken economy in a matter of 60 days in office”, he asked.
He alleged that immediately after the inauguration, Samuel donated and operational zed a grinding mill for the people of Grupe, a village few miles away from Sawla which came a day after, he organized the most expensive victory party in the constituency with some of the youth of his party wearing T-shirts boldly printed Samuel Jinapor for 2020.
Sources close to internal opponents said he spent about GH¢ 120,000 in organizing this flamboyant victory party when many expected him to have done so in his mother constituency (Yapei-Kusawgu) where he voted in the 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012.
Deep-throat sources revealed that he recently donated 100 plastic chairs and a brass band to the Gonjaland youth Association, Damongo branch.
