The various vigilante groups associated with the opposition New Patriotic Party will be enrolled with the National Security, a bank roller of the governing party has hinted.
According to Kennedy Agyapong, the youth groups are recognised within the structures of the New Patriotic Party and must be protected, now that they are in power.
One of the groups, Delta Force, has come under public scrutiny following their latest attack on the Ashanti regional security coordinator. Before then, a sister group, the Invisible force, had been blamed for many atrocities on innocent citizens since the party won the 2016 elections. The groups are believed to have rendered private security services to the NPP while they were in opposition.
Many Ghanaians, including the Christian Council of Ghana have called for the disbandment of the groups, but the party has often justified their existence.
Speaking on the matter, the Assin Central MP said he is in support of the actions of the groups.
“The vigilante groups are recognized in the party and so I will personally make sure they are recruited into national security. If it is work that they need, we will gladly employ them to continue working for Ghana.
“Any of the Invinsible Forces and Delta Forces who have no work should come to me today, we will give them work,” Agyapong told Adom FM Tuesday.
