The Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has said that this year’s elections would not be free and fair.
According to him, the absence of a clean register, abuse of incumbency by the ruling government and other developments will undermine the credibility of the polls.
Dr Nduom indicated that the national register for the December polls is fraught with numerous mistakes that need to be amended before the polls to ensure a free and fair elections.
“The political scale is not yet balanced for a free and fair election, rendering justice in the election is impossible. First of all, we will not have a free and fair election in 2016, it is not possible…the scale is not balanced. We are working with a flawed voters register.
“It is not just by my thinking or saying but the Supreme Court says so. The Electoral Commission themselves admit it. The political parties are aware. So if you are working with a flawed voters register, you can’t have the results you are looking for,” he explained.
Dr Nduom further stated that some state actors are deliberately intimidating some political opponents like himself.
“Free and fair election is impossible when prime actors of the state are being utilized to intimidate oppositions; our supporters are being beaten in several regions not to campaign or support the party. Does this country belong to President Mahama or the NDC? Absolutely not,” he stated.
Dr. Nduom, was cleared to contest the December 7 presidential elections on the ticket of the PPP after the EC disqualified him from the race following some anomalies on his nomination forms.
Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom will occupy the fourth (4th) position on the presidential ballot paper for the December 7 General Elections.
