The Ghana Education Service (GES) has denied speculations December 7 has been declared a public holiday due to the country’s general elections.
A statement issued by the Service on Friday said, all schools and educational workers must work on the election day.
“It is to be noted that Wedenesday, 7th December, 2016 is not a holiday, therefore all teachers, students and educational workers are supposed to be at post after voting.”
“Pupils and students under 18 years are not expected to be in and around the polling stations across the country,” the statement said.
Signed by the Director of Public Relations, Rev Jonathan Bettey, the statement directed the head of the various schools to follow the academic calendar as planned and are to comply with the directive.
