President John Mahama’s second term will ensure a thriving economy and sustainable jobs through industrialisation for accelerated transformation and growth, according to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.
He said Mahama’s first year has been used to stabilise the economy, stabilising the Cedi and accelerated infrastructural development.
Moving forward, he said, between 2017-2021 the NDC government will aggressively pursue “regional business boosters”, saying the programme will be aimed at empowering both young and old ambitious individuals who are desirous of establishing their own businesses.
Mr. Debrah is in his home region – the Eastern region – to drum home the need for the chiefs and people to maintain Mahama and the NDC for a second term. He toured places such as Ayensuano, Nsawam, Suhum, Adeiso among others.
He also interacted with the electorate and first time voters, explaining government policies and achievements to them.
Quoting from the NDC manifesto, Mr. Debrah, who was a former Eastern regional minister, local government minister, Greater Accra regional minister and a former NDC chairman for the Eastern region said government will continue to support young people under the Youth Enterprises Support (YES) fund to establish and grow their own businesses as well as create an enabling climate for digital entrepreneurs.
He added that Mahama’s administration will also operationalise the young changers business forum targeted at Senior High Schools and university students to build their capacities on how to start and manage a business.
He thanked the chiefs and opinion leaders for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage, urging them to keep faith with Mahama and the NDC for economic empowerment, peace and security and prosperity for all.
He added: “I will personally champion the Eastern Business Booster to ensure sustainable businesses are created in the region.”
The chief of staff was accompanied by Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi, a member of the President Mahama campaign team madam Faustina Nelson, a deputy general secretary of the NDC Koku Anyidoho, presidential staffers Mawusi Dzirasa and Emelia Arthur, national and regional executives of the NDC.
