In recent times the media has been filled with stories about Ghanaians in the diaspora making a great impact on the world.
TIME magazine recognized Ghanaian born architect David Adjaye as “one of the great architectural visionaries of our time” and added him to the TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World list.
This is the first time that a Ghanaian has made it to this enviable list which was unveiled by the magazine on Thursday.
The list included a widely-ranging group that includes global leaders and their advisers, musicians and movie stars, world-class athletes and chief executives.
David Adjaye received critical acclaim when he design the National Museum for African American History in Washington DC.
Thelma Golden, the director and chief curator of the Studio Museum in Harlem praised Adjaye saying, “[he] made us aware of how can a building be true to the earthbound burdens of centuries of oppression and struggle, while at the same time displaying the faith, joy and triumphs of African-American life”.
