Traditional authorities at Daboase in the Wassa East District of the Western Region are leading residents for a six-day spiritual exercise to exorcise what they say is an evil spirit which has brought bad omen to the township.
Following a Tuesday directive by the Tufuhene, residents of the town on Wednesday morning dumped solid waste from their respective homes with egg on top, on the main road in front of the Daboase Senior High School.
That spiritual exercise was said to have triggered ‘evil spirits’ in two students to manifest, causing them to chant and speak in strange language. It took the intervention of one of the teachers who is a pastor, to exorcise the spirits.

Students and teachers of the school are now living. The Tufuhene, who is the Regent of the town, has warned against the removal of the refuse and the eggs, which is said to be threatening the health of the people, especially the students.
It can only be swept on Monday, February 27. Residents of the town, environmental officers as well as the school authorities are tight-lipped on the matter as they fear any action they take against the directive could have spiritual consequences on them aside sanctions from the traditional authorities.
When contacted, the Wassa East District Environmental Director, Daniel Lamptey, who expressed concern over the matter said they will petition the traditional authorities for something to be done about the exercise.
