A political Science lecturer, Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko has said President Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s decision to establish some new ministries will ensure an effective delivery on the job by the ministers appointed.
According to him, the move is a laudable one since it would help in solving some critical developmental issues in the country.
The lecturer made the remark in a interview following the introduction of such as Ministry for Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry for Regional Reorganisation and Special Projects, Ministry for Railways Development and Ministry for Water Resources and Sanitation by the Nana Akufo-Addo led administration.
Speaking to Citi News, Dr. Aggrey Darko observed that were also created in line with the president’s vision for the nation.
“Railway has been on our drawing board for quite some time. It’s been argued that if it is really resolved it will solve a lot of our transportation problems. I think that it is an area that we want to revitalize. It is a laudable idea provided these things will help us really intervene in the critical areas that we need to intervene for purposes of development. Nana Akufo-Addo would want to position these individuals such that it will be easier for them to be given the needed attention or calls on the critical areas he want to focus so they can reap the dividend,” he explained.
Meanwhile President leading African think tank, IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Franklin Cudjoe argued that the creation of Railways Development and Regional Reorganisation and Special Projects ministries are needless.
Mr. Cudjoe argued that, the engagement of prospective private sector beneficiaries of enhanced railway services would be a more prudent move towards developing infrastructure for railway development.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, the IMANI President opined: “It seems to me that the mantra of trying to be a leaner in government business seems to be faltering away. If we don’t take care we might hit probably 30 ministries.”
