The Convention People’s Party will outdoor its running mate for the 2016 elections, Nana Gabby Nsiah-Nketiah today, Thursday October 6 ahead of the general elections slated for December 7.
The nomination of the veteran politician and businessman was greeted with hue and cry among the CPP youth front as they argued the nominee is not a card-bearing member of the Nkrumahist party.
The youth wing of the CPP is however calling for the immediate withdrawal of the running mate since his loyalty to the party will be questionable should he be allowed to run with Flagbearer Ivor Greenstreet on the ticket of the CPP.
But the party said the youth league of the CPP is not legally sanctioned by the Central Committee of the party, thus the views of such intra-body in the CPP is not binding in an executive decisions taken by the party.
The Director of Communication of the CPP, Issifu Kadiri Abdul Rauf said the party will still go ahead to unveil the nominee since the Central committee of the party has no problem with the nomination of Nana Gabby despite the concerns raised about his affiliation with the NPP.
