An Accra Human Rights court has set aside the 2012 dismissal of DSP Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda from the Ghana Police Service.
The Inspector General of Police has, therefore, been ordered to reinstate the former head of the Commercial Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service.
All her salaries from 2012 are to be paid her, in full, the court presided over by Justice Gifty Adjei Addo added in its order on Friday, March 31.
Mrs Tehoda was in tears, TV3‘s Selorm Amenyah said about the senior officer’s reaction after the judgement.
In 2011, DSP Tehoda was cited in a case that magically saw some cocaine exhibits turned into baking soda.
She was, as a result, interdicted by the Service.
Though she was acquitted and discharged later by an Accra Circuit Court, the Service refused to reinstate her, forcing her to seek justice at the human rights court for wrongful dismissal.
Friday’s ruling also slapped GH¢8,000 against the defendants.
