The Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court has dismissed a suit brought against the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) by some journalists over the GH¢10 accreditation fees.
Members of the International Standards Journalists Association (ISJA) led by Nana Oppong on Friday, November 11 filed the suit contesting the Commission’s charge for accreditation.
In its statement of claim, the journalists said the fee was a breach of their fundamental human rights under the 1992 Constitution.
They prayed the court to declare the Commission’s decision “a nullity and to be quashed”.
But in court on Tuesday, November 29, the Court dismissed the case and awarded a cost of GH¢3,000 against the ISJA.
