National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is appealing to Ghanaians not to be swayed by the newly constructed interchanged at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
Just like a woman hiding her ‘ugliness’ with makeup, Samuel Awuku said the Mahama-led government is using the new edifice dubbed ‘Dubai interchanged’ to deceive Ghanaians ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The interchange to replace the Circle Roundabout has a magnificent water park with a dancing fountain, the idea of which was taken from Dubai which would now become a tourist attraction for many, according to President Mahama.
The site also has an imposing statue of Ghana’s first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah which is “a fitting memorial in honour of the greatest Pan Africanist.”
This edifice, supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are convinced is an election winner for President Mahama.
But Sammy Awuku while addressing students at the Accra Technical University Thursday, said the pomp and pageantry during the commissioning is borne out of what he called “political ignorance”.
He claimed government decided to unveil the interchange in the evening to show the cosmetic side of the overpass which is total different in the morning.
Sammy Awuku stated that, government has shortchanged Ghanaians because the NPP with 20 billion cedis among others built Alajo Interchange, Malam Interchange, Madina Interchange, Sofoline Interchange, Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, Achimota interchange and Asafo Interchange.
But with a whopping $90million, the NPP youth leader said Mahama-led government has built just one interchange is they are shouting over the rooftop.
“Things we thought was ordinary has been made extraordinary under NDC so we must make choice between prosperity and misery in the December polls” he urged the students.
Sammy Awuku urged all Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP to change the fortunes of this country.
