The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) says it is concerned about the loud silence of political parties in their manifestos about issues of critical concern to the Christian community.
General Secretary Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong says issues affecting mission schools, universities and hospitals must not be taken for granted because of the significant contributions of Christians to national development.
“We provide employment for a huge number of people in churches and other places,” he said on 3FM on Monday, November 14.
Most of the 2016 political party manifestos have been silent on the Christian community though the Muslim community has been provided for in a way.
Making Arabic a part of the mainstream curriculum is touted as morale-boosting for Muslims.
“But we have issues in our universities and hospitals,” noted Rev. Dr Opuni Frimpong.
“We realized after studying the various manifestos which we recommend, but we think that because of our contributions to employment, education, health and other things, at least the various political parties and their manifestos should respond to the interest of religious bodies.”
